Ahhhhh…. Bipartisanship!
May 20th, 2009
Okay, finally, I have to admit it, Barak Obama has brought the Senate together in a 90 to 6 vote. True bipartisanship! God bless him for it.
Oh, wait, what was that for? Oh yeah, for NOT CLOSING GITMO. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Tengo nada a hablar, gracias
How different the campaign trail is from actually governing. No senator wants these people on the streets in their states, their home countries take them and all the countries that Obama lobbied during his European “Blame America Tour” have refused to take them. What’s a President to do?
I just say give them all to China. That’d end it quickly enough with nothing less than they deserve.
I don’t think that it was Obama that united the senate on this issue. It was NIMBYism.
I don’t think that there was ever any intent on the Bush administration’s part to have Gitmo closed at any time – even after “the War on Terror”. As such, the consequences of closing Gitmo has probably never considered.
This has nothing to do with the realities of “office vs the Campaign trail”. This is a case of simply not having had thought things through before acting- not practicing due diligence (it gets in the way of rhetoric, don’t you know). The Bush administration made this mess, and no matter what Obama does, he’s F__ked.
dont throw stones kunai. the reality of the situation is they HAVE to keep it open or kill them all, what do you think will happen if they stick them into any prison int he US? ever heard of the arian brotherhood? how about mexican mafia? those are 2 of the 3 groups that control the prisons(can never remember the black one). But even if they were kept in solitary theres no way they would survive a week. So lets review…….guantanamo bay=life
Yeah, Hapa, the Chinese can use all those spare parts!
Be less of a waste then putting them in General Pop and seeing just how well those that decapitate defenseless captives and snipe from behind civilians do against some truly bad mofos.
I fail to see how Obama and the primarily democrat congress deciding not to close Gitmo is George Bush’s fault. It makes absolutely no sense. Wasn’t there a city somewhere that was divided by some sort of barrier into a free half and a half run by a collective centralist government system? It was somewhere in Germany. There was a president who said something about removing this barrier. I can’t for the life of me remember its name but if anyone could tell me whatever happened to that city I’d appreciate it.
Lol.
And btw, Obama isn’t the one deciding not to close Gitmo. It’s EVERYONE ELSE.
He’s just signing away US sovereignty.
I never claim that “Obama and the primarily democrat congress deciding not to close Gitmo is George Bush’s fault”. I said that opening it without a plan on how to close it at the end of “the War on Terror” (or ever) is the Bush administration’s fault and now Obama is f–ked no matter what he does. If I remember correctly Obama was part of congress when they openned Gitmo. So if he didn’t actively object to it , then he’s partly to blame too.
