WOW, I suck

I’m sure by now you’ve probably noticed that I’ve had the same strip up for like FOREVER, even though there’s all kinds of crap going on with this country and politics right now.  Right?  Right.

Well, I’ve just been otherwise occupied.  Actually, since I wrapped up my big deadline, I’ve been spending most of my time writing.  Writing means I don’t spend time following politics while I’m drawing.  Which means I’m not coming up with new stuff.

I really wanted to do a strip about how Obama railed against military commissions, voted against military commissions, and when he got elected, shut down military commissions regarding our ‘guests’ at Gitmo.  But now that he’s in the job and realizes what nasty little things ‘facts’ are, he’s open to re-instating military commissions.  That just made me laugh hysterically.

But I didn’t.  I’ll have to find the time to pay some attention to what’s going on in the world in order to get back on the horse for RLC.  But I can’t tell you when that will be.  So yeah, I suck.  Sorry!

Is it just politics?

Okay, not politics per se, but Allison Iraheta fell victim last night to the American Idol ‘you’re not hot enough’ syndrome.  No, I didn’t expect her to win, but she certainly outsang the hell out of Danny (who I’m a fan of) and Kris.  Of course she didn’t do better than Adam, who is a consummate professional, but still.  Come on, America, you did this to Melinda Dolittle a couple years ago, or don’t you remember the gal with the perfect voice who just didn’t happen to have a neck?

It drives me nuts when someone isn’t being judged on their talent and skill, but rather on how hot they look.  If Kris beats Danny out just because he’s ‘cute as a button’, I may have to stop watching this show every year.  I swear, it’s like watching Halle Berry get the Oscar for ‘Monsters Ball’.

What happened to the Patriot Act?

When Bush was president, I heard Democrats and Liberals bitching and moaning about the Patriot act nearly every week.  Since Obama was elected… ELECTED.  Not just inaugurated, but since his ELECTION, I haven’t heard one single peep out of the left complaining about the Patriot act.  Why is that?

Of course the Conservatives are too consistent to start kvetching about it, since they were behind it during the Bush years.  So it looks like the Patriot act is here to stay.  But now that the Obama administration has declared all us crazy ‘pro life’ folks as ‘Right Wing Extremists’, maybe we should start being concerned about the Patriot act after all…

Ahhhhh…. Bipartisanship!

Okay, finally, I have to admit it, Barak Obama has brought the Senate together in a 90 to 6 vote.  True bipartisanship!  God bless him for it.

Oh, wait, what was that for?  Oh yeah, for NOT CLOSING GITMO.  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Fundamentally Deranged

Fundamentalist Buddhists live a life of peace and meditation.  Fundamentalist Catholics become monks and devote their lives to study and poverty.  Fundamentalist Christians become missionaries and spend their lives feeding the poor and helping the helpless.

Fundamentalist Muslims become terrorists.

Does anyone else find that to be a bit strange from a religion that describes itself as ‘the Religion of Peace’?

I just mention this because I was reading this interesting article about how Muslims reacted to an event in Greece:

“ATHENS (Reuters) – Greek riot police fired tear gas to disperse hundreds of Muslims who pelted them with sticks and stones outside parliament on Friday during protests over what they said was the destruction of a Koran by a Greek policeman.

The Muslim Union of Greece says that during police checks at a Syrian-owned coffee shop, an officer took a customer’s Koran, tore it up, threw it on the floor and stomped on it. Police have launched an investigation.

About 1,500 Muslims marched through Athens to protest against the incident, chanting “Allah is great”, carrying banners reading “Hands off immigrants” and holding up copies of Islam’s holy book.”

And these aren’t even FUNDI’S!  If you tore up a Bible, most Christians would shake their head and pray for you.  The average Muslim in Greece decides to riot.  Great.  Let’s hear it for ‘the Religion of Peace’!

No, I have no solution.  Just thought I’d vent a bit.  This stuff just drives me nuts.
