lets just say….paranoia exists for a reason

  2. Graeystone

Meanwhile on MSNBC - “Palin is an evil succubus for firing an abusive state trooper who tazered his own kid! Oh, we aren’t SEXIST either! We are PROGRESSIVE!”
I think I’ll stop here because if I continue on, there would be whole lot of swearing.

  3. Hapajap

Why do I get the feeling that’s an ACTUAL quote from Olberman?

  4. Shimon

The PLO sees a lot of money these days, I think even from the American government, as Fatah is deemed more cooperative than the Hamas these days when it comes to negotiations.

Sadly, it’s very common for politicians to associate themselves with bad people. McCain knows this best, as he was already a member of the Senate when the US government was still sponsoring Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein.

Also, I wonder whether socialists can be more dangerous aquaintances than lobbyists. They don’t have as much money to bribe people.
…does it make me a filthy communist to rather have MY leaders hang out with left wing activists than be pampered with oil tycoon’s money all day? Guess so! Viva la révoluciòn!

I think it might have helped if McCain hadn’t decided to raise the concerns about Obama’s associations in the form of a question. “Do we know the real Obama?” sounds like the trailer for some B horror movie that Scifi shows on Saturdays with a giant rubber snake or something. Also Republicans need to figure out that they have the same issue with Cindy McCain that the Democrats have with Biden… they generally mean well but you gotta keep them from opening their mouths too wide. Biden seems to be under control at the moment but Cindy’s comments about Obama running the “dirtiest campaign in history” and that her husband didn’t suffer from the war because “he had training”. Those are the little sound bites that the press just loves to run with.. though nothing tops the Al Gore invented the Internet debacle.

  6. Graeystone

Hap - Olbernoman wouldn’t use those exact words of course.

  7. Hapajap

Have you not watched Olbermoron? Of course he would! lol

Hey, I’d say Kent’s long comment was in part racist. The part about Louis Farrakhan at least. I mean, so what if some dangerous, hateful nut (which I’m not even sure Mr Farrakhan is) supports Barack Obama? How does that make the Democrat candidate a worse person?

Is Kent claiming that only reasonable, friendly, sane, nice people support McCain? I hope he doesn’t, because even the massive amounts of bad faith I’ve seen on the R>LC pages couldn’t support that.

So no, the issue about Farrakhan isn’t because he is - to put it summarily - evil (by Kent’s standards, I know not enough to judge). What else? Well, the other obvious salient points about Mr Farrakhan are that he is muslim and black. Either of those points make Kent racist for holding them against Obama.

It gladdens my heart to see that Don can be right for once.

Oh, and I like how “Jeremiah Wright has been forgotten by the press”. How then does Kent know about him? Elephants can remember, that must be it. By the way, I’ve taken a look at the controversy and, besides the color comments that I view as quite excessive (but then I’m white), most of the controversy seems about his saying, “America has been wrong. It’s about time someone acknowledged it.” That last statement is not anti-American, it’s just fair. Oh, and one comment was “Governments lie”. Hapajap, don’t tell me you feel that’s unamerican since most libertarians and conservatives agree on this one, unless I be mistaken.

  9. Graeystone

jd - If the press isn’t ‘forgetting’ it’s outright ‘ignoring’. Big thing they are ignoring - ACORN. Their monkey business would make Al Capone blush.

http://www.ufomystic.com/wake-up-down-there/farrakhan-ufo/ Here is the start of your Farrakhan education.

  10. Bobkyou

How can you say the press is ignoring acorn? Its been headline news all day, and once the media pick something up they will go on about it for a week.

  11. Graeystone

You mean like Watergate or the sexual harassment charges that were brought up against Clarence Thomas?

  12. jd

Graeystone : about Farrakhan, my point isn’t that he’s a nut or not. (I’ll readily admit the link you provide does certainly make him appear a nut, even though it seems to come from a rather nutty source itself.) My point is that just because a nut would support Obama doesn’t necessarily lower the latter to said nut’s level. That’s the faulty point in the issue Kent tries to raise.

As for ACORN, indeed Capone would blush at their tactics - I mean, they even organized a demonstration of yelling in front of the mayor of Baltimore’s house! What barbarity! I fully agree that Capone would have blushed at such silly tactics. His solution would have been, I suspect, to plant a nice bomb in the place and machine-gun down any who went out. Now there’s an efficient message.

I read the Sol Stern article from 2003 about ACORN. As far as I can tell it’s part same-old Conservative yelling at a left-wing organization for being “wrong”, ie having another opinion, and part equaly same-old right-winged whining about how a liberal organization uses massive popular action to “intimidate” decision-makers. Why don’t they politely lobby their issue in with nice lunches and financial incentives like the rest of us, right?

And about its being “ignored” by the press, Bobkyou apparently answered on this being incorrect. I wouldn’t know. Still, I know that from this side of the pond, the affair about Clarence Thomas never reached the fame of that Monica Lewinsky business. I never even heard of him, or maybe in a few articles about the Supreme Court that had nothing to do with the sexual harassment charges.

  13. markbark

Think of this, young padawan: the ACORN shenanigans should just be able to offset the massive disenfranchisement efforts of the GOP, and thus bring balance to the force. Even John McCain seems to like ACORN.

  14. jd

Would you be so kind as to elaborate? Who would think of this as positive? (This is a real question, not a derogatory statement disguised behind a question mark.)
