$100+ Donation ‘commissions’
I thought some of you might like to see the illustrations folks are getting when they donate $100 or more to the ‘Save the Dog’ campaign. So without further ado…
Our resident bad boy, Leroy. Special thanks to Brett Daniel
Unreal Mika, special thanks to Russell Smith
Scarlet Witch, special thanks to Stephen Schleicher
Don and Kent, special thanks to Richard Campbell
Soldier Mika, special thanks to SSgt Lance Heinzelman.
And a very special, yet bewildered thanks to Arnaud Barraquand, who donated VERY generously, but didn’t want any original art for his gift! What a guy!
Thanks to all our 100+ers, and thanks to everyone who gives anything they can!
I’ll post any future illustrations up here as well, I’ve still to hear back from a couple folks who donated 100+ but never got back to me on what they’d like for their commissions.

Hey Hapa,
First off, I hope the whole money-raising thing is going well. I haven’t seen much mention of it lately around the site which I hope is a good sign.
Secondly, after about 20 days being held up in customs the ‘Trent-as-House’ sketch and 6-panel strip have arrived. Dr Trent is supercalifragilisticawesome and is currently occupying a prize position on a high shelf until I can get him framed. I am arbitrarily choosing to view the sketch as a good luck charm for a friend and colleague who is critically ill in hospital with a rare and hard to diagnose disease (at one point Lupus was suspected: it wasn’t Lupus) which is causing her immune system to attack her blood cells. As I recently moved house the day after a sneeze (!) caused me to suffer a painful but mercifully brief bout of sciatica, and further led me to make my first visit to the doctor in 22 years, which visit left me popping pills and using a cane until the pain subsided, I have decided that Trent’s arrival disguised as Dr House is a sign of my friend’s imminent improvement (it’s a good sign by any standard) and feel much cheered thereby.
And yes I know I am attaching undue significance to random, unconnected, and entirely coincidental events. Funny how often the world seems to work that way though.
In the event that the worst happens I will still treasure the sketch as a curio and unexpected reminder of a good friend.
And if she suddenly stabilises and responds to treatment? Well, then I may have to have you canonised. A few ethnically diverse saints around the Vatican are long overdue given the current political trends, what with the White House coming down with a case of B.O. and all.
I’m done venting now (mostly because this bottle is empty and I’m too sensible to open the next one). I’ve enjoyed the strips on the site and I do hope your own rough patch is in the past. I am really pleased with the sketch you have sent me and plan to mount it, along with a printed verson of the accompanying strip on one side and the original artwork of same on the other.
Best Wishes to you and El Gato both.
Tall Rich
