I know so little about politics.

I’ve been hearing McCain called a RINO for years now. Every time someone mentions that he’s exactly like Bush (or extremely similar), I have to chuckle a bit. Looking at some aspects of his track record (immigration, homosexual marriage, environment, tax cuts), you can see he’s not the ideal Republican candidate, and any of the issues he’s changed his stance on lately is most likely because he wants to cater to the Republican base (like off-shore drilling). I feel he’s mostly associated with Bush, though, because of his stance on national security.

After the midterm elections, I KNEW McCain would be the presumptive Republican nominee. This was mainly because of the general political feeling of the time, which still lingers. Basically, people were getting tired of partisan politics and the fact that Republicans were in control (though “control” sounds like too harsh a word) of all three branches of government. McCain was the logical choice for the nomination because he can appeal to both parties on different issues (though some of those issues could be deal-breakers for some voters).

I liked Fred Thompson a lot, personally. I thought there was a lot to like about Ron Paul, too, even if I didn’t particularly agree with his stance on abortion, but I loved how down to earth and personally he could speak about pro-life/choice issues.

Hearing Obama speak about anything is the absolute opposite of ‘personal.’ Sheesh, what a tool of the PR system.

    Ninja Leroy for president.

If Obama wasn’t running for president, then everybody would be bashing against another senator candidate’s tactics and policies - not to mention his/her personal life. In reference to this strip John McCain is an R.I.N.O. and Obama is a jack ass?

The Jackass is the symbol of the Democratic party.

Hey, anybody who was interested in the side by side analysis that I’m going to do, I need to push it back to a release date of Wednesday latest. If you have classes starting up and/or trying to get your jobs back, you’d understand. Also, at anyone who may have seen it, opinions on Obama-Biden?

I thought picking Biden was a bad move for Obama. Hillary (can’t believe I’m going to say it…) would have been a much better VP pick. She has the party divided right now, a lot of Hillary supporters would rather go with McCain than Obama, and he could have solidified that base. Plus, Biden is just about as liberal as Obama, so this I think is the most liberal ticked for the Dems ever… And when was the last time a really liberal dem won the White house? Jimmy Carter. And how did that work out? Cripes.

I’m not one to give the Dems advice on how to win, but I think going with Hillary would have given him a much better chance than the Biden pick.

On the positive side, I’ve watched Biden in a town hall meeting, and I do have to say he’s a great speaker, and very down-to-earth in his delivery, so that will help.

Ya never know. Now let’s see who McCain picks… My God, don’t let him pick Leiberman, please.

I too think Biden was a lame choice. This is a guy that’s been in Washington as long as McCain. How’s that going to work with the Obamessiah’s campaign of change? I think it highlights Obama’s lack of experience and it shows that he knows he’s not ready for the job, otherwise he wouldn’t have picked Biden. In fact he just said that in his speech in Springfield. Plus, Biden is a dork. He’s well-known for his ramblings and drawn-out speeches and might do bad in debates. Let’s not forget that McCain and his VP can hold it over Biden’s head that Biden voted for the war (which itself conflicts with Obama’s rhetoric), then when public opinion changed he thought it’d be a good idea to rip Iraq apart into three racial/ethnic divisions. Also instead of doing what McCain did and support staying in to win and put more troops in with the troop surge, Biden opposed the surge like Obama, yet the surge ended up working. At the end of the day, Biden might make Obama’s ticket seem like it’s got a balance of “experience” and “change” but really it’s just two liberals. Biden could actually hurt the ticket if McCain and company actually take the time to go after all the stupid things Biden’s either said or supported. The troop surge’s success would be a great place to start I think. McCain could easily point out who really has experience with the Iraq issue since he’s the one that supported the surge and not Biden/Obama. I wish McCain would use Reagan’s line- Peace through strength! We’re getting peace in Iraq because we stayed strong. The progress in Iraq will also make the war less of an issue come election time, and the libs will have less to fall back on. Hillary might have helped Obama unite the Party and be more of a threat in November, but now he’s helped us more than Operation Chaos has because not only did he not pick her, he didn’t even consider her on his list of VP choices! Ha, I hope McCain goes Nixon on their socialist behinds.

I agree Obama should of had Hillary as a VP pick. They would have been a stronger team.
